Who writes this

I'm Ryan Walter.

I spent 15 years building and leading Pricing teams across retail, industrial manufacturing, and distribution, both in-house and as an external consultant. I've sat in the seat. I've stepped into PE-backed portfolio companies mid-transformation to fix what wasn't working.

Today I'm a Partner at Jennings Executive Search leading the Pricing and Revenue Strategy practice, and co-founder of Profit Academy.

I've hired pricing talent, developed it, and watched organizations struggle to get the return they expected from it. The Pricing Leader is where I put what I've learned into writing.

The name is intentional. This is written for people who lead Pricing, by someone who has. The torch in the logo isn't decorative.

Who it's for

This newsletter is written primarily for three audiences:

Pricing leaders who want to think more clearly about strategy, team building, and organizational influence.

C-suite executives who own pricing outcomes but didn't come up through a Pricing function and want a sharper framework for evaluating what they have.

PE operating partners who are responsible for value creation at portfolio companies and need to know whether pricing is an asset or a liability before the next board meeting.

Some articles are written to be forwarded. A Pricing leader sharing a piece with their team, or an operating partner sending something to a portfolio company CEO, is exactly the kind of use this content is built for.
